Master Kiteboarding Jumps in 5 Easy Steps
This video explains the five fundamental steps to perform a proper kiteboarding jump, whether you're a beginner or refining your technique. The focus is on controlling the kite, creating line tension, timing your pop, and mastering your landing. A consistent jump and smooth landing depend on proper kite positioning, body mechanics, and board control. Jumping Steps: - Step 1: Send the kite with the bar sheeted out Let the kite rise without pulling in, so it lifts smoothly without yanking you downwind. - Step 2: Edge into the wind As the kite rises, lean into your edge to build line tension and achieve vertical lift. - Step 3: Pull in on the bar At the kite’s zenith, pull in while popping off the water—use your back leg and lift your front knee. - Step 4: Sheet out At the jump’s peak, let the bar out and steer the kite down to avoid dropping vertically. - Step 5: Point downwind Keep front knee tucked, level the board, and land flat with weight centered. Ride off downwind smoothly.
